The People
In addition to the majority of our staff being pilots, Aviation Specialty Insurance is comprised of established, qualified agents whose veteran experience in the industry is something you will find reassuring. We understand the value and importance you place on your aircraft and we therefore do our best to make the process of protecting your assets as easy and as seamless as possible.
About the Owner
Chuck Surack, owner of Aviation Specialty Insurance, is an aviation enthusiast in every sense of the word. He’s a helicopter pilot and the founder/owner of multiple other aviation industry companies, including Sweet Helicopters, a Northern Indiana–based helicopter charter and production company, and Sweet Aviation, a Fort Wayne, Indiana–based charter, flight training, and aircraft rental company. He is also the Founder of music retailer Sweetwater Sound, luxury car dealership SweetCars, and several other companies, all of which are based around a common theme: do the right thing, every time — for the customers, for the employees, and for the community. This passion for exceptional customer service is a major key to each business’s success. Chuck has also been passionate about aircraft since childhood, inspired by his aviator father. Chuck’s first experiences with flight were in his dad’s Aeronca Chief, and now he can often be found at the helm of his own helicopter.

From being raised in a family of private aviators to eventually founding Aviation Specialty Insurance, Matt has been involved in aviation his entire life. Having flown aircraft ranging from a 152 to an S76, Matt understands the risks facing pilots and how best to address them and his understanding of these risks combined with his insurance expertise makes him and Aviation Specialty Insurance an invaluable asset to all his clients. Matt routinely travels the country representing Aviation Specialty Insurance at various trade shows and industry symposiums and is consistently on the forefront of industry developments and trends.

Having worked with underwriters, business owners, and pilots over the course of his career, Steve’s knowledge and passion for providing extraordinary service lead to finding the best insurance solution to meet each of our clients’ specific needs. On a personal level, Steve enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially his wife and two children, and has spent quite a bit of time in the air, flying around the Great Lakes region.
