stethoscope and pilot epaulets resting on pilot medical forms

BasicMed Officially Effective May 1

We’ve heard from some people asking about BasicMed and whether it has any insurance implications. Great question! Although there are some parameters, many light aircraft pilots may never need to see their Aviation Medical Examiner again. More importantly, they’ll avoid the time and cost of getting a special issuance medical every year. The new rule does not mean the pilot is absolved from maintaining medical fitness for flight; rather, there is a new option available. Unless otherwise stated on the quote, we will gladly accept any pilot operating under the BasicMed rule, provided they are operating an aircraft that meets the requirements of the new rule. Think of it as one less thing to worry about when doing business with your friends at ASI!
